I an new here and looking for some info on the motor on my boat. I was told it was a 1986 Blackmax 150HP. Model #1150726. Can someone give me some info on this engine? Is it a 150hp or a 115hp? Is it a Blackmax xr2. I need to get some parts for it and wondering! Thanks

What is the serial number on your engine? It is needed to properly identify the exact model.

What is a "looper" at 60 degrees?

Re: Mercury Motor Info. Need help????????

Looper means loop charged as opposed to cross flow charged. this has to do with the way air/fuel is inducted into the cylender and exhaust is evacuated. A picture of both systems would help explain a lot better. The 60degrees is the angle of the V in your V6.

This kind of info, from before the days of internet, is available to me in a closet placed in the very back of my shoebox-sized home office :)

In this case the original brochure... doesn't have each and every year but as motors remain largely unchanged from year to year, it's valid info.
