mercury motor troubles

I have a 1976 15.5 bayliner with mercury model 1150 115HP when I accelerate the motor will only accelerate to about 2500rpm and will not go beyond. The motor starts fine, idles fine does not miss and occasionally will catch and goes to its full potential.I had the carburators cleaned late last fall and it still did the same thing does anyone have any ideas as to what my problem could be. do a search here on "fuel starvation". same motor/same problem here. lot's of good reading and possible causes.<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.
