You will have the wrong sending unit on your engine. I believe they come with smartcraft guages, which are digital. You will need to get the analog one.<br /><br />TMD

Re: Mercury Optimax 200

Have you gone through the calibration procedure with the trim system? The trim on the smartcraft gauge reads from 0.0 (full trim in) to 10.0(max trim out) and 25.0 in the trailer position. A reading of 17 would indicate that your motor is somewhere between full trim and trailer. Is it stuck there all the time? Does it move at all? A bit more information would be helpful.

Dear dilligaf <br /><br />It is always blinkin, and the number change, sometimes is in 25 other 17 , 2.0 Etc. Maybe is the calibration. Do you know if these gadgets can descalibrate by themselves.<br /><br />Best Regards<br />CArlos

Re: Mercury Optimax 200

hello<br /> it sounds like a connection problem or posibly the sender is failing. I would use the ohmeter and test the sender and double check the wiring.

Well I don't know if they recalibrate themselves, but if the numbers are jumping around like that, I would be suspect of the sender or the connections to the sender.

"Smartcraft gauges need to be calibrated with a Merc dealers' Digital Data Terminal and software...sounds like a trip to a dealer"<br /><br />NOT TRUE!!!! <br /><br />The gauge is calibrated at the tach and speedo, NOT with the DDT. Follow the instructions in the gauge owners manual, shows you exactly what needs to be done.
