I have a pair of 2001 150hp optimax. Last time I used the boat the engines were running fine, but on my way back the boat started beeping four times every 2 minutes. The was no loss of power or hesitation or anything, boat ran perfect back to shore, just beeping every two minutes. While I was at home flushing the engines, I realized that the beeps will go on only when i turned one of the engines. So the error is coming from the startboard engine only. I have searched the forum for my problem and so far I've read that it could be low oil or water in the fuel. So far I refilled both my oil tanks, they were a little low, but not empty. They are full now as well as the reserve tank in the engine. It still beeps. I unscrew my fuel filter on the engine, didn't seem like it had any water in it, but still replaced with a new filter. My beep is still on. Im not very good at troubleshooting so I don't know where to turn next. Any help will be appreciated. Tx.

Re: Mercury Optimax Alarm

ok, i was able to put a computer and the code its reading is low oil. So there is no problem with water in the fuel. But we reset the code a few times and it comes back so the boat still beeps. Should I just replace the sensor?

Is the oil tank on the motor low? Need to verify this before you start throwing parts at it. If the engine mounted tank is indeed full, then the likely cause will be the sensor, although it could also be an issue with the tank itself.

The oil tank in the motor is full, it was missing maybe a finger and i toped it off. Is there a sensor in the tanks that are on the boat? or is the only sensor in the little tank in the motor? if i disconnect the sensor in the motor tank, should the beeping stop?
