Greetings,
This may be a question for @racerone and maybe a few others.
In my quest for Mercury 7.5 / 9.8 engines, I have come across a couple that have "missing parts" on the carburetors. It looks like complete carburetors (1364-7902, 7909 and similar) are NLA. Carbs were either Tillotson or Walbro brand. It looks like the Tillotson brand was BB-1C - BB-7A depending on model year. The Walbro were WMB-1 ,2,3,4
In the Tillotson current product line, it looks like the HL series is the closest things to the BB series (my guess). Just wondering how compatible the carburetor parts are . . . as in if I buy a new HL series carb just to cannibalize it to make a BB series with some missing parts whole again . . . would that work? I am thinking carb bowl, float, valve, kind of stuff.
Looking for any insight on the carbs and any equivalent replacements for these motors in the late 1970's - early 1980's era.
