I need some help in wiring the gauges on my tracker boat that were hooked up to a Mercury, and I now have an Evinrude installed. Mainly I would like to hook up the Fuel Gauge. The gauges are getting power, as they light up when the nav lights are turned on. But the original Mercury ignition key was removed. So, there is a plug that has 3 wires. Purple (which I figured out is the hot wire that turns the gauges on when the key was turned), Black, and Grey. If anyone has experience in the conversion, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks

Mercury tachs may have different pulse setting on the tach. be sure you can set the tach to a six pulse setting or you will need to replace.

Since the ignition key is gone, where or how to I hook up the purple (I think) wire from that three wire harness to get the gauges to at least turn on? Since the the plug also has a tach wire on it. maybe my ignition source wire is elswhere?

Thanks for the help!

Purple goes to the 12v+ side of the tach, Black to the 12v- side, Gray to the tach signal in, and sometimes there is an additional tach connection for lighting from dash mounted light switch.
Good Luck
