I have a 2003 Mercury XR6 150. yesterday I took this boat out for the first time. It cranked up fine, idled fine, even hit WOT/Holeshot fine. Well about the 6 session or so of starting it, It turned over for like 3 sec. then died. Then it wouldnt crank (fire up) it wouldnt even turn over, just starter spinning, but no fire, had plenty of battery juice......So I decided to let it sit for about 15 minutes in fustration. Tried to start it agian and BAM it turned over, BUT When it turned over I had to give it gas to get it to run. SO I continued on with my day and it cranked up fine for pretty much the whole rest of the day, then AGIAN later that day it did the same thing. So when I got home I took my fuel pump apart and noticed some trash in it. Wasnt alot, mabey around 5 or so flakes in it....Almost looked like brown flaky stuff. I rebuilt my fuel pump and replaced my bulb. Could this little bit of trash cause this issue????? If not, what should I check?? Thanks!
FYI, I also noticed my bulb wasnt hard when it wouldnt start, that is what was making me think, Fuel pump........
