I have twin 1990, FWC 454 Bravo motors. I am thinking of replacing my manifolds.

Ive looked at the MerCruiser part 89011A8 @ $347.70 each as well as the Sierra and the GLM products.

The Sierra equivelent are $221.60 each and the GLM are $137.00 each. See below Ebay link.

What experience does anyone have with the GLM manifolds? How about the Sierras? The GLM states a 3 year warrenty.

Lastly, in the pictures in the MC parts sites, it shows the manifold with a Center Riser and it looks like its in the center, however the Sierra and the GLM do not appear in the center... Are they truely direct replacements or will using the aftermarket products cause me headaches by having to change out other items like the exhaust tubes because of the off center-ness...?

Re: Merruiser Big Block manifolds

I just replaced my manifolds on a small block chevy. Most of the postings I read on this site said to stay away from GLM manifolds. I ended up purchasing Barr manifolds and they seem fine. Price was higher than the GLM's but no where near the Volvo Penta pricing.

Stay away from GLM.
I got tired of sending back defective mainifolds and risers after 3.
Made in China- go figure.

Re: Merruiser Big Block manifolds

One had a gouge on the mating surface, which I paid a machine ship to face off. Another 2 had cracks in the casting at the mating surface which leaked water through , and another was so porous that water weeped through the casting.
