While doing carb rebuild on the 3 carbs of my 68 55HP Johnson, I messed up the slot of a high speed orifice and cannot remove. ANy tricks on removing or should I just leave in place and try to make sure the orifice is cleaned with a fine wire or something similar?

Just make sure it's absolutly clean and leave it. Blast it with carb cleaner, and compressed air. As you mentioned also run a small wire through it to make absolutly sure it's cleared out.

If you don't manage to leave it in place then try to heat with a flame the bowl around the orifice, do not point the flame on the orifice itself. Then get a reverse drill 1/3 diameter of the orifice (or grind one to cut reverse) and try at very low reverse drill speed and most cutting pressure to drill through. With good will and hope the orifice will slowly unscrew out. Good luck
