Hello! I am new to the forum and will try to be as thorough as possible!

I just purchased my first boat this last weekend and took it to the lake immediately and spent the weekend without issue. It is a 1990 Sea Ray Bowrider 180. Has what I believe to be not the original motor. It currently has an outboard Yamaha Vmax 175 HP to it.

When I first got the boat in the water, everything turned over without a hitch. Shot out into the water and everything was great. Few things I noticed that I wanted to attack as soon as I got home.

- Fuel indicator not working. It is pegged at empty. (sheriff had to tow us in when we ran out of gas! :( ) - I removed both connections at the tank and when i put them together, the needle drops lover than E. I have a post I bookmarked that i will look into tomorrow. So that is not the concern of this post, though thoughts are welcome and appreciated.

- Tack not working. It is at 0 when off, pegs all the way to 7k RPM on start-up and stays there while engine is on. Again, not primary concern, though want to tackle that ASAP as well.

- Speedometer starts at 20 MPH. It seems that as soon as i hit about 20 MPH it starts rising form there. I will look into the intake (wherever and whatever that is tomorrow) and see if i find anything there. Again, my phone has GPS with speed, so not primary either! though quick thoughts and tips appreciated.

-Finally, the concern at hand. THE RADIO! Now I will elaborate. Don't worry, I dont think this is the primary concern. It was just the one thing I knew how to fix without looking anything up! I crawled under the dash to investigate why the stereo was not getting power. It appears that there has been some new wiring added in. All the factory fuses have been bypassed to a inside mounted fuse box. Someone (Sea Ray or previous owner) also decided that zip tying everything to everything was a great idea. I started undoing zip ties and organizing as best as possible. Without issue, within 20 minutes, tunes playing from all four speakers! PERFECT. Except that.... in this process, I lost the ability to trim up or down from the the console and the engine itself. In addition the engine will also not even turn over. I am thinking I jostled something loose in my excitement of zip tie snipping. I didnt shave into or damage any wires.

I can post pictures of the cluster of wires behind the dash tomorrow. Though it anyone has any ideas of where I can even start to address this Issue, I would greatly appreciate it.

I thank you for reading all the way to the bottom, and look forward to being part of your online community!

Regards

Chad

Sounds to me like you may want to check all the fuses again. If this doesn't fic your problem, check the relays. I imagine the motor isnt trying to turn over at all (not getting any sound?)

most likely a dead battery or short either due to bad relay or fuse. Iw ould start there. Are you familiar with using a multimeter?

I am, Just not sure what to test? It is not the battery. has 2 onboard both full. Ill check fuses when i get home. There was some "new wiring" added at some point, and there are alot of wires that have been nipped. But this wouldnt cause the issue, as this happened before this weekend.
