Are metal fuel cans problematic due to rust and also wondering if most people are running an inline fuel filter after your fuel tank(s) and before your Merc outboard? If so, would appreciate to hear where you are running it, what type of filter(s) etc... thanks.

I run a raco water separator/fuel filter on all of my boats(9)...given the Ethanol that we are all stuck with water is a problem..you are on the west coast so welcome to ethanol and all of the problems that go with it...plastic tanks are ok...all of the builit in tanks on my boats are stainless but very expensive....if you have old steel tanks you must run a filter off each one before the racor to catch anything those tanks want to put out..just my 02....I had some gray Merc fuel line that has a liner in it go bad from the ethanol and would have killed my 90hp. Merc but the Racor caught all of the crystallized liner...Merc had a service bulletin about it but i don't work for a dealer so I found out the hard way and then heard about it after talking about it to my local dealer....
