Metric oil drain plug on gm longblock?

i bought a remote oil drain hose for my 350 engine (in process of assembling from a recent purchase longblock). I put a 9/16 socket on the oil pan drain plug and it was too small. 5/8 too big......15mm just right.

why are metric bolts on a gm engine?

anyone know the thread size to order for my drain hose?

Don't loose that wrench, you might need it somewhere else!

Thanks Don, and yes, I found a metric bolt on the power steering pump mount also!
