Been offered a Metzeler Maya LS Sailboat, seems it's one of the first made, has no 90? cone ends but flat endings contoured as a empanada, was wondering if any of you know them or probably has had one. The Hypalon fabric is the thickest i've seen, the boat is well built, looks very professsional made. Metzeler is the oldest inflatable manufacturer, was stablished in 1865 and bought by Zodiac in 1980 and taken out of the market, comercially speaking, to avoid unwanted competence and be the masters of high end inflatables (thumbs down)

Re: Metzeler Maya Sailboat

Went to have a look at the Metzeler Sailboat, when unpacked from it's wrappings was really shoked to see the fabric completely dried out and delaminated. Seems this nice old sailboat had it's Waterloo years back, a real pity. The only serviceable and in great shape condition was the sail kit, will try to adapt them to my bathtub and go boating with...

I have a Metzler Maya which is still used every summer and is in great shape. Mine runs a 4 hp. Evinrude. It sad to see one that bad.
Zodiac bought them to get the hard, high pressure, inflatable floor patent.

This one must be really old, has fllat end cones, not the round ones as other Metzeler boats that have seen on the net, so Zodiac bought the whole company just for the floor patent, you always learn something new. A pity that these sailboats are not made any more, Sevylor which used to be the cheap/thin inflatables from Zodiac used to produce a K-86 which had a sail available as a kit.

A good company to get in touch with for Metzler parts (if still available) is Auto Marine Specialties in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Peter is the owner and he swears by Metzler.
