i need some advice, and from reading some of the posts here, im in the right place...i have the chance to pick up a mfg 72 caprice for pretty much a song, it hasnt been in the water in 10 years and left neglected and uncovered...interior is shot, should i assume the stringers and foam are shot or is there a way of testing without tearing up the floor, any advice would be appricated...thanks

Welcome to iboats, vinny704!

I personally would assume a total rebuild: stringers, transom, floor, wiring, fuel tank, etc. anything that isn't the original hull will probably have to be redone. At the very least visually and mechanically inspected. Figure at least $3-5k to get her looking brand new or better.

Remember, YOU are the only one who can determine if this protect is worth it for YOU!

thats what i figured,....got a big decision to make, im in no rush to get it on the water, so if i do try it, it will be a long term project, i didnt have this problem first time around, bought a brand new bayliner 1952 in 2001, 2 years on long island in the atlantic, the 3 here on the local lake in ohio....had to get rid of it...now i want back in, thank you for your reply

No problem, if you end up restoring it, you may find you like that ALMOST as much as the boating itself. Trust me. Restoring can become addictive.
