I recently aquired an old Mfg boat that I cannot identify. I need some help finding out more about it. I have tried to find some pics that look simular on the internet but to no avail. I am sure that I have just not been looking in the correct places but then again I don't know where those places are. It is 15' lap sided with beautiful wood! I just want to know what it is and possibly what year. I also was wondering what I could get out of it because I am currently in another project and don't want to get into this one so selling it is the plan. I know that it will be a great project boat which will turn into a beautiful boat in the end but I am a smalll stream/lake fisherman who is not giong to need a boat like that. Thanks guys!

Also, the serial number on this boat is 47375 and it was manufacturered at MFG in ashtabula oh.

Thank you.

Jacob

Re: MFG boat Identification.

I'm no expert but I am old enough to remember when MFG's first appeared and I don't think that's what you have. MFG stands for Molded Fiber Glass and they were constructed with fiberglass hulls and caps. They probably had a wooden transom core and stringers. MFG's did not have any visible wood that I recall and from your pictures it looks like your boat is of classic wooden lapstrake construction. My first impression is it was manufactured by Thompson but there were many builders that used that style back in the 1950's and 1960's. Expert forum members should be weighing in shortly with their opinions. Regardless of what it is or is not, I think it is a beautiful boat. Good luck!

Re: MFG boat Identification.

Here is the tag that is on the inside of the hull. Maby they just made the hull for the boat and then someone else finished them off? I am not well versed on boats... I was a canoe guy for my entire life now I am looking for a better craft to fish for muskies out of.

Thank you,

Jacob
