I have a 1999 lowe 179 scx with a 1999 evinrude 90 hp fichtBoat. was bought used and had a michigan prop model 011024 14dia'' x17pitch'' 3 blade. while on vacation bought a new evinrude prop model 177131 14'' x 17'' as per dealer req. both props will run out good at about 5500 rpm but the new prop will not take sharp turns at all. Engine over revs and will not bite. Pull back on throttle and hit it again and will take right off. I have tried trimming out at all different rates and only if i hold motor down all the way will it try to work.

That's probably because of the different blade configurations. Michigan uses a rounder design where Evinrude's tips are stretched out further. That also makes for a larger diameter and motors usually have to be mounted lower for larger diameter props to prevent the tips from coming out of the water.

I'll agree with the blade design, Willy, but not the part about running lower with more diameter...larger diameter allows us to run HIGHER.
The fact the new prop has different, likely "less" cup (unusual for an OMC prop) and is causing the venting.
I don't recognize the 177131....the exact replacement for the 011024 is 176214(OMC) or visa-versa.
Ya need a higher-tech prop to stop the venting...
