Michigan Wheel Ballistic or Apollo?

I have a StarCraft Medalist 1700 (16'8") with an Evinrude 120hp outboard. It's time for a new prop and I would like to step up to SS. Current prop is 19 pitch x 13 diameter and rpm is right in the middle of max operating range at 5500rpm. Boat is used primarily for water sports, skiing (mostly slalom) and wake boarding. I'm wondering if anyone can offer an opinion/information on the differences between the Michigan Wheel Apollo versus Ballistic. Both seem well regarded so all insights appreciated.
Thanks

Well, I tested a Ballistic against a couple of other props I had, but not Apollo. The Ballistic is a high rake, fully cupped prop. I think it is a bow lifting design which may not be suitable for watersports where you want to drop the bow quickly.

It holds the water really well. On my boat it ran at less RPM than the other props but gave the same top speed, indicating less slip. It is well made and highly polished so it looks good on the ramp. Personally, I was impressed and I would buy another in a New York Minute.

HOWEVER, There is a good chance that it will reduce your RPM to below the operating range. If you could wrangle a test run of 19 and 17 pitches before buying it would be a good idea.

If used mainly for water sports, perhaps you should be considering a 4 blade prop?

Neither of the props you mention would be considered ideal for water sports.

Solas offers nice 4 blade 17 pitch props in aluminum and SS that should be more appropriate for your intended use.
