I just got a new michigan wheel aluminum prop for my older 25 hp evinrude. It is not splined, and has the drive pin at the front. I couldn't get the prop all the way on. It would bind (too tight on the prop shaft) about 1" before getting all the way slipped on. There were no burrs or anything on the shaft, nor in the hub... but it just seemed like the hub hole tapered down to be just a bit to tight somewhere in the middle. This seems odd to me, since there's no real reason for it to be that close tolerance. The only way to get the prop on would've been to pound it on (which I did not do). Instead I rolled up a 1/2 sheet of emory paper and worked it in the hub hole for 15 minutes or so until the prop would slip on all the way. I didn't take much off.... maybe a couple thou, but it sure seems weird that I had this problem at all.... The part number on the prop is correct for my motor. I've had a couple OMC props on this motor, and they all just slide on easily, with just a hint of clearance (like they should).

Anybody else have problems with michigan wheel props? I briefly considered returning it, but need a prop for this coming weekend. If you've ever bought one you're carrying as a spare, maybe you should try putting on the motor and seeing if it fits!
