other then the fact Im going to reseal the lower unit in excellent working order (arent they all ???) repainted in original color and several coats of clear coat compression 125 120 in cyl carb in excelletn shape replaced reed last year I want to sell it to buy a 65 or 70 hp so what should I ask for it if you require more info re boat let me know

You are looking at a 25+ year old engine. I don't think I would plan on having this sale finance the purchase of your new motor.<br />Ultimately, it is worth what someone is willing to pay, but I doubt that will be more than a few hundred dollars at best.<br /><br />John

Wow, you are looking in the wrong place, my friend.<br /><br />There is an outboard shop in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, where a friend recently bought a early 80's model ~70 hp Johnson, that was mechanically checked out and guaranteed for 30 days, I think, for around $1300 Cdn.<br /><br />But what the heck, ask what you want for it, and maybe someone will bite. You can always come down in price.<br /><br />good luck. If it looks real good, who knows...

miloman - Spend a couple of hours on the web looking at motors for sale to get a jist of the market. Make sure you include ebay.

Whatever it is worth, it is worth a lot less without a lower unit in working condition.<br /><br />But it is a good idea to check ebay--and make sure you do a search on the internet as well, remembering the conversion between CDN$ and US$,<br />as well as any potential shipping charges etc.
