I have a few drops of fuel leaking when the motor is trimmed up on my mid 70s 85hp evinrude.

I was getting ready to load up at the ramp when the ramp monitor started yelling at me for leaking fuel into the lake. I literally must have leaked a few drops. I didn't leave a huge slick or anything, but it was enough to tick the DCR monitor off.

I know they all lose a little fuel but the ramp is shallow and I have to trim the motor up fully, I have no choice. The ramp monitor seriously lost his cookies over it and was threatening to call in the on duty EPO to fine me.

What can I do to prevent this?

There should be a hose at the bottom of the air silences that should rec any fuel back into the block. Check hose and cover gasket

It's normal to leak a little out of the carb fronts when the engine is tilted after running. That airbox cover that 1983 mentions should seal tightly against the back of the airbox. There should be a cork gasket all around the airbox halves, so that any fuel/oil drips can be contained in the bottom of the airbox. Once tilted back to normal, that excess fuel/oil will get sucked back into the bottom cylinder thru the airbox drain hose which is plumbed into the intake manifold. If any of these are not as shipped from the factory, fuel/oil can leak from the lower cowling into the lake.
