Hello All,

I acquired a Steury V416 with a 60hp Chrysler Magnapower II. I can't seem to find a lot of information on the Steury. I am interested in rebuilding this boat and have two questions. Is this the orginal hp engine for a 16' boat? Where can I find more info on the Steury such as dash configuration because its all missing. I'd like to get a copy of the original boat manual or any photos. Any suggestions are greatly welcomed. Thanks. BTW I couldn't find any serial numbers on the boat.

Howdy, neew-at-it.

Welcome to iboats. :)

This is more of a boat question than an outboard question.

I will move it to the Boat forum and suggest that you post a new topic on the engine (only) in the Chrysler Forum. If you can locate the model number of the engine it will help a lot.

Good luck. :)

More than likely thats the original engine for the boat being it 16 foot.

To my knowledge, Steury went out of business in the 80's.

Otherwise, they were fine boats. I worked at a marina, as a teenager, that sold them. No complaints.

The 60 hp. Chrysler would be about right for a 16 footer.

Forget the manual. Most new boats do not come with one.

You're on your own there.

We'll be here, if you need help.

I've seen Steury brochures on the net. Do Google search (try image search too) for them.
I bought a brand new 14 foot Steury with 74" beam from the Detoit Boat Show in 1965 for $495. I had a 40 merc then a 70 HP "Dockbuster" on it.

Mid 60's Early 70's Steury w/GM

Mid 60's Early 70's Steury w/GM

hi, i recently acquired a Steury. I have researched lots, but found little. I do not know the model year, but i know it is equipped with OMC accessories and has a GM Inline 4, possibly a (153ci?) and has two carter rbs carbuerators. The information in this website leads me to believe it is a mid 60's early 70's steury, but since it is hard to find pictures of these boats, i am not sure.

Does anyone know what year this Steury might be?

these are the numbers found on the side of the GM block.

Peter: Don't know about the Steury but the Chrysler was a model only made for a couple of years. The Magna-Power II ignition was a poor design prone to failure and Chrysler Offered a retreo fit kit under guarantee.

If your engine runs -- fine! Run it until it stops. If it does not have spark, you will have trouble finding ignition parts but they can be had with searching.

It is a shame that the ignition was so poor. In every other respect the engine was a well designed, powerful gem.

Hijacking a 5 year old thread is double bad manners, Steinie.
