I believe that my forward gear is gone out on the lower unit, and was wondering if anyone had any diagrams, pionters or things to be a ware of when taking it off? serial # is 7218274. The reason i believe this is a still have reverse put no forward, and if you pick the trim up you can get it to engauge put soon as you put it in the water and there is resistance then it starts to slip and make grinding noise. If anyone could help me out in anyways that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Your shift cable may just be out of adjustment. If the cable stretches, you can sometimes have too much reverse and not enough forward. In other words the cable is not pulling enough to engage and hold the clutch dog into the forward gear. Forward gear and reverse spin constantly while the engine is running with the clutch dog sitting in between. This is another reason to never ease your boat into gear. Rather just pop it.

i went over all my linkage and tried agusting it, then i would put it in gear and see if i had resistance when trying to spin prop my hand in both forward and reverse gears. Seemed that still with all the tinkering i couldn't get the forward gear to lock up bearly at all, were the reverse was locking all the time everytime?
