I have a Minn Kota Edge 24V/70lb thrust. When I pull on the cord, I can’t ever lift the top frame the first time. The only way I can get it to lift up is to push down on the frame or wiggle the steering head (with the arrow—not sure of proper name). I read elsewhere that applying grease helps, but I do not know precisely where to apply the grease. Could someone help by posting a picture or providing more details? Many thanks!

My troller has a release mechanism on it. This must be pushed to start pull up. Locks it down when reversing.

Also, is your mount still straight? With the rough roads the bouncing may have bent the mount a bit. Thus could cause a binding. That is one reason when pulling more than a few miles will take troller off and lay in bottom.

A lot of trolling motors have a rope pull that releases a pin setup to allow the trolling motor assembly to pull up. I would look at what your rope does and make sure it is smooth working and some lube can't hurt. There should also be a spring that keeps the pin aligned to secure the trolling motor when deployed. Make sure all that is smooth with out any rust and lubed well. JMHO
