Minn Kota foot switch seems stiff

I took my new Minn Kota 55PD out yesterday, and the it seems like the foot control is stiff.<br /><br />This motor has the electric steering etc...<br /><br />I'm new to these electric/foot control trolling motors, so maybe this is normal? Maybe it's because the unit is new?<br /><br />Is there an adjustment that can make it easier to activate the switch?<br /><br />It just seems like it should take less effort to activate the switch. A simple press to the right or left would be nice, but my switch has you stepping fairly hard to get it to go.<br /><br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />H.

It will loosen up a little over time but mine is a little too stiff for my likeing as well. If you look at the bottom you will see a couple of springs. I haven't tried, but I suspect changing the springs to something a little lighter would fix the problem.

That's what I'm guessing too...<br /><br />My biggest problem is, I have some nasty arthritis in my foot that acts up once in a while, so the easier the switch it, the better.<br /><br />I showed the Wife the Co-pilot remote that you can add to the motor, and she mumbled something about a Father's day gift, so maybe I'll get it!<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />H.
