Minn Kota Powerdrive trolling motor magnet came loose

I just opened up my 2002 Minn Kota 40lb thrust powerdrive trolling motor to find out the cause of the grinding noise. I found out that one of the magnets has come loose from the housing. Can I use JB weld to secure it or do I need something else?

Also,
I need to remove the bearing(the one just behind the prop) to replace it. How do I get it out? I gave it a tap to drive it in.....and tried a tap to drive it out(toward the prop) and it didn't budge. I don't want to give it a good smack til I know which direction it comes out.

Well....got no replies.

Ended up JB Welding the magnet back on. The armature still rubbed a bit, so I took some fine sandpaper and hand sanded the offending area of the magnet.

Motor is quiet again. Problem solved (i hope).


On a positive note....the brushes are barely worn and the inside of the motor was in super shape, so the TM must not have been used much at all by the PO.
