Brand new 24V 2007 Minn Kota RipTide RT70 Bowmount CoPilot PowerDrive Saltwater Trolling Motor prop will not turn/run with either foot control or CoPilot wireless control. All other functions work with both controls. All beeps, chirps and prop on ?ticks? are audible. The prop on and off relay does activate when either control is used to run the motor. The prop shaft has unusual in/out play of about 3/8? and there seems to be some binding and uneven movement when the prop shaft is turned. Is the motor dead? Or, do I have a relay connection problem to the motor? Thanks.

if the prop is having issues you need to take it apart and check it out...but first get out your volt meter and test the wires coming in and out of the bottom board..if you got power in and no power out it may need a new board..I just changed out mine on my 2003 Riptide...fixed her right up.

Thanks, checked the board and power was getting through. Took apart the motor and the brush plate was "blown up".

Thanks again.

those parts are available and not too hard to replace...well worth it for a $1K trolling motor

Check out fish307.com for MinnKota parts. I rebuilt my Vector and they were the cheapest I found, fast shipping and very helpful too.

My armature was fried and I read somewhere MinnKota had a problem with the armature in "70" sized motors, manufactured a bad batch or something like that. I replaced just about everything in the motor housing and thought the price was reasonable.

Took apart the motor

Oh yeah, you did mark the magnet housing for correct orientation, before taking it apart, right???

I didn't and got it wrong, had to take it back apart and put together again. 50/50 chance and I got it wrong,,, go figure
