Im going to mount a small Hummingbird fishfinder up front to watch for weedlines etc. I was just figuring on trimming the transom mount transducer a little and using a waterproof epoxy puttty and forming it around the bottom of the trolling motor and neatly molding it to the transducer, Is there a reason I cant do this? I really do not want to buy a trolling motor transducer for $50.00.

Go for it...

Or make a bracket to mount the transducer with a hose clamp... Seen that done many times..

Actually first time I took the transducer out to the boat to look at what to do, its not going to be a problem at all, the angle of the transom mount transducer without the mount attached will allow me to just drill a hole on the keel of the trolling motor and with a 1/4 " of plastic spacers on each side it will just bolt right on, great! If it gets broken off, I will then do as I posted above, or maybe by then I can afford to get the right cable.
