A friend gave this to me and he doesn't know for sure if it is a 12v or 24 v trolling motor. Does anyone have anyway to tell if it is a 24v motor. Everything that I look at from 55lbs of thrust and lower are all 12 volt. It is foot controled. On it it says 42 pro AT by the prop it says turbo.

You won't hurt it by trying a single 12 volt deep cycle battery. If it's a 24 volt motor it will be very sluggish. But I doubt it's a 24 volt motor if it is only 42# thrust.

I believe you have the same one I have. mine has a white top with auto pilot.
On the base it says 812 turbo pro, and it is 12 volt.

Thanks for the replies on the head of the trolling motor it reads Turbo Pro 42 AT 42 lbs Thrust weedless wedge propeller. It has a white head with the words ALL TERRAIN on it.

Nope, better make sure your foot control is in good condition...these units have a habit of blowing the control board when the foot pedal wears out. Ask me how I know.
:(
BTW the 824 model is 12/24 vdc and the 812 version is 12 vdc not that the OP will ever see this post brought back from the dead.

Re: minn kota turbo pro 42

bringing this thread back to life..... i recently picked up a boat and it has one of these (turbo pro 812) mounted on the bow but i need a prop for it. i have no idea what fits it? the prop says 209-1140 on it but i cant seem to find one. are there any other part numbers/props that will fit this? also its a 17 foot aluminum, do you think that troller will pull this boat around okay?

thanks in advance.

Re: minn kota turbo pro 42

Because the Turbo Pro 812 is being talked about in this thread, I am wondering what a reasonable selling price is for one. I have one for sale on craigslist, it works fine (including the auto pilot), and includes a quick-mount plate AND a replacement control board (which are no longer available). Is $300 a fair price for all this?

Yes 300.00 is a fair price!

Now can anyone help me? I have a 812 turbo 42# thrust and some times it works fine and then it will just start turning completey to the left or to the right. It acts like it gets confussed. Is something going bad in it?

I also have an 812 Turbo Pro 42# thrust trolling motor. I'm looking for a foot pedal for it being mine was stolen.
Does anyone have a clue where I could get one?

You should be able to get them at all of the chain stores yet or ebay. make sure you look at the type of plug it has before you buy one. 812 need the oval or flat plug end. you can still get co-pilots for these unit, I noticed "4JawChuck" says you can't. The first year co-pilot came out they had the oval/flat plug ends.

Re: minn kota turbo pro 42

I buy my foot pedal at Cabelas. It's the older version that is kind of junky but it's the only one that works and yes it has the oval plug. Why didn't they make a cable adapter??? I talked to someone from Minn Kota about a year ago and he said that there wasn't any on the market. If the wiring wasn't so complicated I was going to work on a prototype at work but don't think it would be very marketable except for owners of these older motors. bummer
