I have a minn kota electric trolling motor, never been used, will not run, it's getting current through all switches but the motor will not start. Any help with this would be appreciated.

I guess you have checked to make sure the prop is free and will turn easy. You might have to pull the top off where the handle is to make sure you have no wires broke from that point on down to the motor itself. You might have a broke winding in the motor also. Good luck.

I know it sounds stupid, don't want to offend, but.
1. Wire on the battery with the correct polarity?

2. Tried another battery or taken a voltage reading while the battery is under load?

3. Original wires with connectors or are there plugs and sockets in the middle? If so, can you bypass all of that and wire direct to the motor?

4. Will the prop turn by hand? (Disconnect from power just in case, they will do a lot of damage to your hand if turned on and your hand is in there.)

Howdy, Hunter.

You didn't mention what model your MK is.

The high efficiency models use an electronic pulse width modulator to control power to the motor. Your control simply tells the modulator how much power to supply.

I suspect that you have a failed electronic module.

Minn Kota has user and service manuals available.

Good luck. :)
