Can any of you guys that live there fill me in on where to look as far as relocating to the state.I'd like to be in the country, not in the city.
Economy,cost of living,concentration of lakes(mainly small ones),hunting opportunities.
I live in colorado now and might be looking for a change of living.
thanks

I've been to a boat-in cabin, a few times, near Ely. If you like to get away from the city, it doesn't get much better.

Fish and drink in the summer. Fish, drink and snowmobile in the winter.

Have not hunted there, but Ely is near the Boundry Waters wilderness area.

The last I was there in 04' settlers were aready starting to move in.

You can have it any way you like it here. Urban, Suburban, Rural, In the sticks, Middle of nowhere,...If you don't have to earn a living, Middle of nowhere is great. Lakes are everywhere. Fishing, outdoors, etc.

Be ready for hash winters. Its much colder here than Colorado.

You'd have to be more specific on what you mean by in the country.. Outside the few population centers ( twin cities, Rochester, St Cloud, Duluth, Fargo/Moorhead, etc) you are in the country. We have farmland, prairie, bluff country, river valley, pine forests, birch forests, etc..

If I had to pick a place to relocate I would choose west of the North shore of Superior, just north of Two Harbors. There is some beautiful dense pine and birch woodlands with many cool rock bottom lakes. And then you have the wonderful north shore. I never get tired of that environment.. And you are fairly close to Duluth and ameities it provides.

But the choices are endless..

Re: minnesota living

All this info is good stuff, I will probably just go out there and see where I want to be.I will have to make a living so i do believe that will hinder me some.I like the fact that "just" outside of the bigger towns you hit rural areas and that is where i am now in colorado.i live an hour and a half or so from work so a commute is just not scary for me.nor are winters,I grew up in massachussetts and that place also has its share of skeeters and winter. In fact I like winter for ice fishin.
Oh and I will always be a BRONCOS FAN. CHICAGO:eek: hell no! they can have Gay Butler, we got rid of that lame bum.

What type of work do you do? Or are you "flexible".

Its a big state.
The Twin Cities are only 1/3 of the way north of the southern border.
In other words, 2/3s of the state are further north than the cities, and Green Bay. In my Experience, you get much north of the cities, and winter gets a lot colder, and a lot longer.. Winter is about 8 weeks longer in Duluth, compared to the southern part of the state. 12 weeks longer in International Falls.

beautiful, state, lots to offer, but the women are a bit scrawny.
They are meatier on my side of the border.

That describes the north 2/3 of the state, minus a few blighted spots called cities.
