Hi ive got a riptide edition minnkota autopilot that does strange things. When i set the compass to go where i want it holds for a little while then starts spinning and going nuts. So right now i dont use the autopilot feature bummer. This unit is 3 years old and hardly any use. I had this exact same problem on another minnkota autopilot that i sold because it did this. Minnkota didnt help me at all last time so i really cant count on them again. Is there a screw i can adjust to make her straight again. I would be willing to take the head off but dont have a clue how to take the plastic pieces off.

Re: Minnkota Autopilot problems

With the T/M down and boat loaded normally and someone sitting where they would normally sit to control the T/M check the shaft to be sure it is within 5? of vertical. This is the most common thing that causes your proplem.

They said replace with a new compass board which our parts departement would be of help. LOL this is a hardley used and looks like new i cant belive its not working right. I replaced with this unit because i got tried of my otherone doing the same crap. So if i replace with another brand new one its going to fail? Minnkota needs to step up to the plate!
