I have a Minn Kota AT50 that is acouple of years old and used very little. It is foot pedal controlled. I hate it, My son hates it, my friends hate it ! (the foot pedal that is) - and for my uses I would really be better served with a hand controlled, bow-mounted motor.

So - does anyone know if I can convert a foot control motor to a hand controlled - one with the twist handle for simple operation.

I am hesitant to even think about remote control because I lose EVERYTHING and the remote control is something else for me to lose. Also - I don't want to have to think about batteries in the control unit or anything else as I am frequently out in the winter and batteries always seem to need replaced or I always seem to lose my "stuff" when it's 25 degrees outside.

Sell it and buy what you want. I don't think this is a simple conversion. I question why you hate the foot control. Perhaps there is just an adjustment that needs to be made.

my son is only 11 and he gets frustrated trying to control the boat while fishing - he is a big kid but typically uncordinated at his age.

I like fishing with it but not I am not a huge fisherman and it sometimes it even "wanders" on me if I am not paying attention to the pedal.

I use it frequently to pick up duck decoys and hand control is more user friendly. I knew this when I bought it - I just thought I would fish more than I do and the foot pedal would be nice for fishing
