Minnkota Trolling motor often non-responsive

I purchased a 1980's fishing boat last year and I've had issues with it responding to my movements of the pedal. At first I thought maybe it was a low battery but even when the battery is fully charged it still doesn't respond sometimes. The motor acts like the pedal is stuck or something but the pedal isn't atleast not visibly.

So my question is: is there a way to determine if the pedal is the issue? So I don't waste the money!

Thanks

MK has had a lot of problems with the first generation power drive motors. If that is what you have. The cure is usually to replace the pedal.

Don't replace the pedal spend another $80 and get the wireless remote. call Minn Kota to be sure your model is compatible. you can have it in 5 or 6 days. Also be sure you check all connections, voltage without current will not run. Prices aren't bad direct from Minn Kota.

I have a V2 and if anything, those pedals are even flimsier the the first gen.

Thanks everyone for all the responses and info, here are some pics of the model I have. trolling1.JPGtrolling2.JPG

Do these help identify if this model is the one they had issues with the pedals with?
