Alright guys bait is really getting expensive here in my part of the world.
Gas, being high and my wife has took up fishing with me and does she love to feed the fish.
Won't listen when I try to teach her how to set the hook.
I still am glad she has finally came around to fishing though. She said she enjoys it.
Now give me some ideas on minnow traps that I can set in the little river just below the house to catch me some bait.

Re: minnow traps

What size minnow? Most of those commersial traps work great.
The most efficient way to catch minnows is with a seine, takes two people tho. Cast nets work great for the larger minnows. The laws on taking minnows in Mich. are pretty restrictive, ie. no cast nets on inland lakes and the minnows you catch have to be used on the body of water where caught.
rope ties to top and attatches to long pole. drop
net into water and drop some bread crumbs... wait
for some minnows to come in and pull up hard. we
dip a few dozen in about 10 min across the street
in erie canal.
