Mirrocratft & Johnson, good setup?

We're looking at getting an 05 Mirrocraft 18' Dual Impact fish and ski paired with an 05 Johnson 115 4 stroke. This is a new rig, not used.

I have a couple questions...Are these two decent units? The Mirrocraft seems to be quite the boat for the money. Alum floor, bench seat that flips down to make a fish/ski deck, etc. A lot more boat for the money compared to Alumacraft. Anything wrong with Mirrocraft boats?

The power plant is a 115 Johnson 4 stroke. The dealer says these are Suzuki, and from what I've read on here, that verifies out. It appears the relationship between Suzuki and Johnson is over. So, what about parts? Is this a Suzuki model made for Johnson, or is it identical to a Suzuki model in every way except the color?

The rig will be $19,500 including depth finder and canvas rain top. Sound like a decent deal? Or pay another $1200 for the Yamaha?

Thanks for any advice.

I am pretty sure the Johnson is a Suzuki in costume. Should be able to get parts for it, no problem. The Yammie is a nice motor too!

I spent eight years fishing from a MirroCraft Pro-Striker and my daughter's family is still using it. Been trouble free. Powered by an Evinrude. MirroCraft has a good reputation and while they may not have all the high-tech construction techniques of a Lund, Crestliner, Alumacraft, etc., they are, never-the-less, very good boats.

Thanks for the replies!

I've been researching motors on here all day. What a mess!
At this point, I'm thinking of just sticking with the 4 stroke Johnzuki and save the $1200 over a 115 Etec or Yahama.

That is, if we decide to go with this rig. $19.2K + lift + taxes.

Been looking hard at used rigs. For the most part, it doesn't look like the savings is worth the potential in buying someone else's used headaches.

As you search for deals, check dealer web sites in your are for "Non-Current" models. These are brand new, never used rigs but are one or two years old (called carry overs in some areas). The link below is an example of one of these Non-current listings. Any of the boats listed I believe are upscale from the MirroCraft you were looking at.
