Re: Misplaced bolts?

any automotive parts store should have them, coat them liberaly with grease to aid future removal.
now about that "lifting eye" DONT EVER LIFT THE MOTOR WITH IT.
in fact its clearly stated in the service and installation manual, I actually got to see a new engine dropped while uncrating cause that M8 bolt just aint strong enough.
that particular eye is strictly to aide in engine alinment not for supporting the entire weight of the engine, thats what the lifting eyes on the heads are for.
about the time I walked in the shop oneday they started lifting, got about 2 ft up and pow.
luckily other than a bruised ego and a dented pan there was no real damage.
but thats what happens at shops that allow untrained minimum wage workers to uncrate and rig engines.
and it happens a lot.

You forgot to mention the DIYer that just won't spend the money on an OEM service manual.

But it sure is nice when you are doing a repower so you can lift the front of the engine straight so you can see where things need to be to get the alignment set.

Here is what it looks like in the service manual.

I get a kick of seeing the lifting plate that bolts to the intake manifold carb base.
wonder if they sell, and are used?
