I got my boat, a 16' Bayliner with a 70hp Force outboat, this Spring. Due to weather and other stuff going on, I've only had the boat out three times. My first outing confirmed a water leak in the lower unit, and the second outing confirmed my repair (new impeller and seals) fixed the leak. I also replaced the fuel filter, a leaky fuel line, and the spark plugs.

Since I got the boat, if it idles for more than a few minutes the motor will die. It starts right back up, however (lucky me).

On today's outing, the motor seemed to run rougher than usual. I detected a missfire while accelerating, noticable at lower RPMs. The top end seemed normal. Hard to say if the missfire was gone at higher RPM, or just not as noticable.

The spark plugs are gas/oil fouled, not too bad. I'm going to rebuild the carb and install new plug wires. Because the top end seems OK I think the fuel pump and primary ignition aren't the problem.

Thoughts/ideas/experience?

Thanks!
