Misty Harbor Boat Question 16"

Right now I own a 1990 Misty Harbor 16" Square Hulled pontoon boat. Last season I noticed it sits very low in the water, and I belive that the foam inside the floats is water logged. I have removed the caps to drain them and let it sit for quite some time but the boat still seems to be quite heavier than when I originally got it. I have now begun to remove one of the pontoons and was wondering what advice anyone may have in getting these things dry again, The plan for now is to pull one off, look inside to see how bad the foam is and if i have to remove the foam inside and refill it.. any advice? any tips? is this a common problem?? Help!

Thanks,

-Kevin

*bump* no one knows anything about these boats? Could someone at least point to a forum where I might get some answers....

Kevin:

You may try this question under Project Boats - those guys have a lot of experience with tearing apart and rebuilding hulls, flooring, foam, etc.

Also, wet foam is a fairly common experience for anyone with an older boat (even if they haven't found it yet!). I expect to find some wet foam this fall when I replace the flooring, carpet, and seats in my boat (oh, God, the thought of it!).

I have no experience w/ pontoons, but the general structure of your plan sounds good to me.

Good luck!
