I have a 1973 Cruisers Bonanza with an 888 mercruiser (302 ford) I bought a bunch of parts from a guy who was parting out a 351 pre alpha boat thinking that it would all interchange. Well I found out that the part of the outdrive that actually does the pivoting is different on mine (pins and stainless nails) vs hexhead threaded "pins" on the part I purchased. now I am wondering how much difference am I going to find in the rest of what I got? (i.e. lower unit, manifolds, y pipe, gimble mount, tilt and trim rams, ect...)

Ayuh,.... It's hard to say,... The 351 never came with that transom assembly...

I could be wrong on the timin', but Ford was long gone, durin' the early MC-1's existence...

What yer discribing sounds like a R-drive, or MR-drive...

Is the Top pin square, or splined to the tiller arm,..??
