I have a 1977 (I think) Mercury 65 horse and have 3 questions?

1. What is the mix ratio or where can I purchase an owners manual for this motor?

2. Did this age of motors require leaded gas and will a gas additive work?

3. What octane rating should I be using?

50:1 is the mix, you can get a repair manual at the bottom of this page, use regular pump gas with atleast 87 octane. More octane is not going to do anything except cost more. You do not need to add any lead to gas. They are to run on unleaded only.

Thanks Nate. Already ordered repair manual but thought the owners manual might have more general info to use as a quick reference guide. :)

I dont think you will be able to get an owners manual, but the general stuff is usually listed in the manual you ordered. Good luck!
