I have one quick question.
When they say "one turn" from lightly seated on the mixture screw, does "one turn" mean a full 360? i.e. one full revolution from the starting point?
When I do that the screw comes almost all the way out and it doesn't idle.

Does one turn maybe mean 180?

One turn is 360 degrees, that is correct. half a turn is 180 degrees. Now the best way to see where the problem is to fully unscrew the fuel-air mixture screw first and inspect the tip. You will notice there is ore than one thread on the body of the needle so it will be impossible for the screw to come all the way out with only one turn out.

The mixture screws are spring loaded to keep them from vibrating and changing setting. Remove the spring and screw in the needle until it seats. Now you know about how many turns it takes and how it feels. Now replace the springs and screw in the needles past the start of compression of the springs until they are lightly seated in the casting. The reason for this is because if you screw them in too hard, like tightening a bolt, you will deform the carb seat and the needle tip. That carb will no longer have correct adjustment. It is also possible to break off the needle tip in the carb casting by applying way too much force.

It is also possible that a previous owner used the wrong needles. If the needles insert into the front of the carb, they should be about 2 inches long.

Ok. So how much is one turn? A full 360? i.e. approx 2 full turns of my wrist OR 180? turn i.e. approx. 1 full turn of my wrist?
