MK Autopilot .... acting lost !

Over the past two days out on the water, my Minn Kota Riptide w/ autopilot has been acting up.

On certain occasions (and usually when heading west) it starts moving all around; and unexpectedly nearly knocked me off the front of my boat this AM. It almost seems like it is looking for the heading for which it was set to lock on but can not locate it.

Batteries are OK and motor otherwise works well when Auto Pilot is turned off. My first thought is that some kind of signal or magnetic field is conflicting with the built in compass.

Helpful advice appreciated

Kevin

I have an AP 65. The unit can get out of calibration by hitting heavy waves and/or big bumps in the road when trailering. After two calibrations the dealer/repair center said the circuit/compass board was defective, ended up replacing it under warranty. Works fine now.
JD
