I changed my MMSI info from the boat I sold to my new boat. My question is my old vhf radio on boat sold has my original MMSI#, do you delete that or how do I keep the new boat owner that has my MMSI# in it from sending out a call with my MMSI#?

Re: MMSI and VHF

The MMSI number stays with you. You should have deleted it when you sold the boat.

Thanks Digbat, still have boat in yard waiting for new owner to get trailer. Will have to get it deleted. Wouldn't know how that's done do you? I was the original owner so there is onlt 1 number in there. It is a Icom M-302. Would I better off cancelling my MMSI number first then apply for a new number?

Re: MMSI and VHF

Information for anyone who sells their boat with their VHF radio that has been programed with a MMSI#:
From BoatUS MMSI site:
I have sold my boat & radio. What should I do?

If you sell or trade your boat and radio with an MMSI number programmed into it, please be sure to cancel the MMSI account to make the number available to the new buyer. Once it is canceled we will know it is ok to reassign the number to the new owner should they enquire about it. Do not continue to use the same MMSI number with a new boat & radio as it would still be tied to the one you have sold! Instead, you would need to register for a new MMSI number for any new radio.

Hope this may help some of you guys.
