Not to be picky, but shouldn't this complaint be under "Nothing to Do with Boats"?<br /><br />Well, Ray, some of have been "shackled" by one or the other. Just explain your gripe to the fullest extent possible and then get on with it.<br /><br />Those guys are going to do whatever they are going to do no matter what you say....and in spite of your big Johnson!!

LOL, well thats true, the One Woman Henpecking Parade can attest to that!!<br /><br />I dunno, I got this little ... admonishment ... from Joe Reeves a while back ...<br /><br /> Ray.... The lower units will interchange as long as the water pump setup is the same (two tube), but pay special attention to the driveshaft lengths. Some of those shafts will differ by only 1/8" or so. If you attempt to use the longer length shaft in a engine that normally uses the 1/8" shorter shaft, that will exert excessive pressure between the powerhead and the lower unit, resulting in a binding action.<br /><br />The eariler models did not incorporate the propshaft and clutch dog spring loaded detent setup, however they may be interchanged from one unit to the other also. Note that the clutch dog must be set up for the detent.... the eariler dogs will not work!<br /><br />Now, notice in the above that my reply pertained to your problem and you did not need to read through any other distracting info that had nothing to do with the problem.<br /><br />No offense or adverse reflections intended, but your posts include so much unrelated info that I have avoided getting involved prior to this as I did not desire to read through a lengthly post that included unrelated type, including that long drawn out signature.<br /><br />Best to use the K.I.S.S. method (Keep It Simple Stupid).... again no offense intended (that's simply what it's called) and I hope sincerely that you are not offended.<br /><br />I wasnt offended, I use the KISS method too, Keep It Simple Sailor has been part of my signature since Day One<br /><br />I even shrunk the signature ... well, didnt shrink the Big Johnson, hehehe<br /><br />but the other posts are irrelavant now, Im into the teardown of it, swapping doglegs and then tackling the no run situation, its pretty simple<br /><br />seems like I cant make any of the people happy at all<br /><br />cept for mops, lol, I think he likes to laugh at my more outlandish tales, lol, but its just life<br /><br />some things you just cant spin from imagination, life is way too wild<br /><br />

howdy JB ... Ray pulling your johnson.....apart sounds like fun I use the KISS method myself Kan Instantly Seduce Shielas.... LOL A bit of humour goes along way to making my day.Just had a week in Bali with my family it was glorious.Good luck with your project
