Model and Serial #'s?

How do I find the model and serial #'s on my 1975 55 HP Chrysler? <br /><br />Shane

Shane, on most outboards there is a plate fixed to the transom bracket. I have a Mercury, Evinrude and Suzuki and they all have an ID plate on the transom bracket. Check there. I've also heard that some have the serial number stamped onto frost plugs on the powerhead. I'm not familiar with Chrysler outboards so cant suggest anything more.<br /><br />Cheers<br />Mike

If it's not on the transom bracket it should be just in front of the carbs on the deck...that is the only two places I've seen them on Chryslers...Just a Thought

Shane,<br /><br />You're right. I believe we are the only two on this board with the same engine. Also, I believe the above information is correct. It's on a plate in the location they're describing. I'll look tomorrow and tell you exactly where it is on mine. Did you ever find out the correct Champion Spark Plug number???? The UL18V which you were given on another posting IS NOT correct. how are model and serial numbers interpreted for evinrude engines.<br /><br />i cant make mine out exactly but seems to be <br /><br />model # 854935<br />serial # 80007 (not sure about this)<br /><br />the other engine i have is a<br />model # 60073D<br />serial # B4109
