Hey everyone

Just bought a 1977 Duracraft, with trailer and motor (not running) for 500 bucks. The motor was sold to me as a 1978 15 horse erude, and the tag on the motor bracket supports the 15 part but the model number is for a 1958 or so 15 which looks nothing like the powerhead or the cover I have. From the pics I have been able to find, i think I have a 70s ish 25 horse under the cover.

So I guess my question is, could someone have used the motor bracket from an older motor for a newer one (or something like that) and 2:

Are there any identifying marks on the powerhead itself that I could use to know for sure what motor I have for the purpose of ordering parts?

I dont have the motor with me, but I may can get someone to take a few pics if that would be helpful.

Thanks!!

Re: Model number does not match motor

The tag has 15104 as the model number, which is a 1955 15 horse.

There should be a disc on the top of the block the size of a quarter approx. The number on it is important. You can call Evinrude customer help line and they can tell you exactly what you have from that number. Ezeke is telling you your number is different than what is a 55 (and the number you gave) but I'm not sure you see that. Best of luck. Rick.

Sorry for the confusion, I mistyped the number, Ezeke gave the number that is on my tag, but based on the pics in the link he gave, I can say without a doubt that is not the motor I have. I'll have the motor with me in a few days so I can get pics up.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

Look for a silver plug on the powerhead. The model number may be stamped on it. The brackets are sometimes switched because the old ones were broken, or the motor was stolen.
