Moderators: Can this be added to the Sticky?

I've been trying to figure out how to add a large image to my posts, but I've only been able to add thumbnail views. There is a very good tutorial sticky started by Woodonglass that describes a method of adding pictures. The problem is that some of the steps don't seem to make sense since the forums changed a while back. Some of the icons that are discussed don't exist. I was reading another post called "Pictures" started by Fly Rod when I realized the issue:

It turns out that I need to change my 'Manage Attachments' settings. This is pretty simple and is described by Don S in the "Pictures" thread. The steps in the sticky won't work unless your settings are similar to those described by Don S. Can somebody add Don S's comments to the sticky originally started by Woodonglass? Thanks.

Now if I can only get my notifications to work...

with the new version software you can up load an image from your computer and it will appear as a thumbnail until it is clicked on then it will open to normal size in a pop up box
