Modify a 305 LX, or get a 350

Does any one know if or has anyone ever hot rodded the mercruiser 5.0lx ? If so, got any thoughts.
No doubt the 359 block has better potential....BUT I really would like some input on the 5.0LX

Ayuh,.... Hot Roddin' a 5.0l is a Fool's errand, when you can start with a 350 block instead,...
there's No way ya can make up for the missin' 45 cubic inches,...

with a change in induction and cam you can get about 50 more ponies out of it, however like Bond-o stated, why when there are more cubes to be had. there is no replacement for pure displacement

If you truly want a hotrod, skip the 350, and go for a 377/383 which is a stroked 350.

If you're running an Alpha drive, no more than 300 hp, or you'll be replacing the drive pretty frequently too...
