modifying fuel pump clear hose on carb

this one is for me. is there a way to modify the clear hose that comes from the fuel pump to let it work on a rochester marine carb, that does not has the nipple on it./????carb is running fine just need to get tha clear hose to the carb, in case of the pump gone bad , i dont want to go skyward boom, <br />thanks picture of any modify will be great or a little info thanks.

Is it a MARINE carb that you now have? If not, then you shouldn't have it on your boat anyway. There is other things besides that clear hose attachement that makes a marine carb MARINE.

don thanks for the inpu, well the boatyard mechanic stated that it is a marine carb, but it just a little older carb. but i would like to find out myself so i could change it before i go boom or get a fine by the coastguards. <br /><br />don please give me the spects to look for on the carb to insure it is a marine carb. i ran all last season with one on it and did not found out til this past winter, so what to look for guys, any pic don????<br /><br />i have another four barel that iam sure it is a marine because it has the nipple on it. <br /><br />don what ever you say i will do just shoot,<br /><br />thanks again

Best thing to do is for YOU to take some pictures of your carb (with flame arrestor off) and post them.

sorry don i dont have a digital camara at hand right now. i could put mines side by side with my friends owns that has the nipple on it and see if there a diffrence. thanks don

last update on the carb. hey guys i put both carb side by side, and look and look,ect<br /><br />the only diffrent i notice is this.<br /><br />on my carb the bigger butterflys. has a hole in both, the size of the hose from the fuel pump.<br /><br />while the other carb bigger buttfly has no holes in them. that is the only diffrent.<br /><br />if this turn out to be a marine carb. i can modify a small hole in the top of the arrestor, and put the clear hose through there, but i want to know which port to dump the clear hose into??<br /><br />is it the bigger buttfly or the single port with the choke.<br /><br />thanks. and guys please dont kill me for this, but this carb runs so sweet, i just it is a marine, if not i will let it go.<br /><br />thanks again.

For arguments sake, we will call it a marine carb. You understand the concern, and you could very easily take it to any good marine dealer and have them look at it and verify that it is in fact a marine carb.<br />So now, assuming you have now or will have a marine carb without a hose connection for the fuel pump.<br />I have used some small tubing going through the flame arrestor and aimed into the primary openings (the small front ones on a Q-Jet). With the engine running, if the pump leaks, it will suck the gas into the carb and flood the engine, plus you can see the gas in the clear hose. It should NEVER have gas in it.

IS this a special hose or can one get some from Lowes or H depot? Mine is turned hard and yellow, not clear.
