Moly Disulfide oil...

I'm putting the lower unit of my F40MSHY back on after a water pump change and it calls for Moly Disulfide oil on the Drive shaft. I can't find moly oil anywhere (yamaha or other), what do people use on the shaft? I understand moly is used to prevent the splined shaft from seizing in.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks,

Tod

You can also buy Moly grease in the same place you buy regular grease. It has a moly film that stays put and I think that is what they are after.

Mark

You can also buy molydisulfide powder and mix it with oil or grease. Use gloves as this stuff will permeate your skin and it has to wear off. IT's great stuff and little bit goes a long. Way. Used to break drive chain rollers on my snowmobile. An engineer friend looked at it, said add some moly powder to the oil and the problem will go away. He was right.
